IBPS has published a notification regarding the recruitment of clerical cadre of staff in the participating organizations such as Bank of India, Indian Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of Maharashtra etc. As per the notification the preliminary exam will be held in the month of November, 2016 and the main paper would be held in the month January, 2017. After the exams the result will be declared in the month of April 2017. There are some changes that have been made, so, in this article I would like to clear up those queries and doubts of the students.
IBPS Clerk New Exam pattern-
As per the rules there will two phases of examination preliminary and mains. The one who qualifies the preliminary will be given the opportunity to sit in the mains. There will not be interview conducted, only the marks achieved by the candidate in mains will be considered for the following year 2017-2018.
The two phases of IBPS clerk exam-
1- Preliminary exam- there are no changes in the syllabus, so, the last year paper pattern would be followed. The paper will consist of 30 questions of English and 35 questions from each reasoning and quantitative aptitude. The total number questions would be 100 and the time provided would be 60 mins.
2- Mains exam- the main exam will also follow the last year pattern as there will subjects quantitative aptitude, reasoning, English, computer aptitude and the last general knowledge. Each section will have 40 questions, though the marks allotted will be 50 marks each for reasoning and quantitative section whereas the essentiality of computer has been increased to 20 marks. Marks for other sections have been kept unchanged at 40. However, the biggest astonishing part is the introduction of sectional timing in the examination: Quantitative (30 minutes), General Awareness (25 minutes), Reasoning (30 minutes), English (30 minutes) and computer (20 minutes). This makes the total time for the examination 135 minutes instead of the previous year allotted time 120 minutes.
Few tips to follow to crack IBPS Clerk 2016 for the certain limited period of time
IBPS Clerk Preliminary remains same-
The best news for the candidates who desire to get in the banking jobs is that they don’t have to follow any new trick or trend to crack the prelims. The first phase of exam will remain in the same way and there are no additional changes made.
Reasoning and quantitative essentiality-
The most astonishing part that came up is that there would be more importance given to reasoning and quantitative. The marks allotted these two sections are more than any other sections so just keep your this part as the consolidate part.
Keep time in your mind-
As per the rules there are time provided to each and every section. So, don’t think that you will exhaust your whole time in one or two sections. Once the time regarding one section is over so it is over, after that you cannot return to that part of the paper.
New time allotment for IBPS clerk Exam-
This year the time allotted to the candidates has increased. From 120 mins to 135 mins. There is additional 15 mins provided to the students.
Different IBPS Clerk vacancies for different states-
This is a new thing introduced by IBPS in the notification that it has announced the state-wise number of vacancies for each state separately in the notification. This will help you understand your chances based on your performance in the mains examination.
Less importance to computers-
The importance of computers has been reduced to 20 only, whereas the time allotted to this section is only 20 minutes but this section only requires sufficient time of 10 minutes to answer these 40 questions. You are likely to have an excess time in this section, so, give more time to quantitative and reasoning instead of computer awareness during your preparation days.
The IBPS Clerical Examination is going to be similar to SBI Clerk one. So, don’t take the exam being easy. You may ease yourself by preparing thoroughly the main sections as I have mentioned above and if you follow the certain tips then there are many chances for you to secure a position.
